April, 19th 2004 Dear Neffo: Thank you for your gift to the YMCA of Greater Boston's 2004 Reach Out Campaign. This annual effort provides funding to support individuals and families by offering educational and recreational opportunities they could not otherwise afford. The YMCA provides childcare serves for 65 toddler and preschoolers. The Y also partners with local schools to offer after school programs for 205 children at five East Boston Public Schools locations. In addition, at the Umana Barnes Middle School, 85 youth participate each day in an after school academic and enrichment program. Collaborations are in place with the Salesian Boy's & Girl's Club and the Harborside Community Center to offer structured activities for teens during the evening hours. These programs are widely recognized in our neighborhood and are shining examples of both individual and community success. Last year the YMCA provided almost $182,000 in scholarship funds and financial assistance. Your gift will help us maintain our promise that no one will be turned away from the YMCA for financial reasons. Thanks to supporters like you, the YMCA is making a difference in people's lives.
